Before we start
We check your teeth and gums first. Whitening works on natural teeth only. It does not change the color of crowns, fillings or veneers, so we show you which teeth will lighten.
How it works

At a short visit we scan your teeth, and a lab makes trays that fit them. You wear the trays with the gel as the instruction sheet says, most often once a day for one to two weeks.
Sensitivity
Sensitivity is common and usually temporary. If your teeth feel sore, skip a day or two. A toothpaste for sensitive teeth helps. Call us if it does not settle.
Questions about teeth whitening
How long does whitening last?
The shade fades slowly, faster with coffee, tea or tobacco. Keep your trays; a short touch-up brings it back.
Does insurance pay for whitening?
Dental insurance usually does not, because whitening is cosmetic. We tell you the price at the scan visit.
